Early Cities of the Americas, CommonPlace
http://commonplace.online/topic/early-american-cities/

At least 110 cities are mentioned in letters.  I was interested to compare the 1897 population figures in Cahn's 1897 Theatrical Guide with current ones.  Many have grown considerably, some, such as Boston are nearly the same and others such as Buffalo or Newark have shrunk.  Of course some city boundaries [especially New York's] have changed. Cahn's was also very helpful in identifying theaters [or possible theaters] since so few letters specify the venue [or even the plays.]
